That’s it.  That’s all you need to be patriotic.  You don’t need to be pro-war.  You don’t need to be Christian.  You don’t even need to agree with every decision the president makes.  If you are a citizen of this country and you care about it, you’re patriotic. Since The Patriot Act passed it seems that patriotism has changed into an unthinking, unquestioning, and unchallenged agenda. I just feel like this kills all hope of gaining a unity again.  Non-Partisan Nationalism would be nice to return to without restraints and further brainwashing.  If you take things away slow enough, people won’t even realise their rights have been stripped.

The things a person does in the privacy of their own home should be kept private, right?  I mean, that’s shouldn’t be too hard of a concept to ask.

Tor (bundled with privoxy and Vidalia) is a large network of proxies sprawled out over the web.  After I installed this, I put it to the test and searched a few websites that have been closed to US residents for some ridiculous reasons.  The only problem I came across is that google adjusts to whatever country my IP is transferred to, but this problem is easy to resolve.

Peer Guardian 2 gathers and constantly updates lists of IP addresses that watch online users.  Using this list, PG2 blocks information from reaching these trackers.  Of course PG2 will only keep you as safe as the list is updated.  As far as where they get this list from, I haven’t really dived down that well of information.  The only problem with PG2 known right now is that it isn’t available for Vista users quite yet.  They are working hard to get a new release available, though.

With no discussion on the topic, the U.S. Senate passed the bill on Tuesday, May 10, 2005. This Act presses each of our state’s government into taking our licenses and using them as tools for homeland security.

On January 25, 2007, Maine passed legislature that refused the implementation of the Real ID Act in their state. By February Utah joined Maine in opposition to this bill. It didn’t take long before Arkansas, Colorado, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Dakota, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Washington also joined Maine and Utah in passing legislation opposing Real ID.

New York’s new policy of issuing driver’s licenses to undocumented residents upon presentation of a valid foreign passport goes against the requirements for documentation of legal status and a valid Social Security Number.

As of now, there is no true national identity card in the United States. The Social Security system is as close as we’ve been to a national identity. The interesting thing about the Social Security program is that it’s completely optional and issued to a newborn via the parent’s request. Of course, they’ll want to make this request if they want to do things such as claim taxes or ensure that their child can function in today’s society. On a national level, the Real ID cards are required by each state. Since this is state-issued, these new forms of identity are not technically considered to be national identification cards.
